Wildcats Prepare for the World of Work
April 10th – April 14th, 2017
Wheeler High School is hosting its annual Wildcats Prepare for the World of Work, career awareness and preparation week, April 10th - April 14th, 2017.
It is our vision to prepare students that are college bound and career ready. In order to achieve this vision, we need the assistance of our parents, community members, and public figures, so that together we may educate students on the importance of furthering their education and the vast career opportunities that are open to them. Therefore, we cordially invite you to participate in one of two ways:
Classroom Presentation: Classroom presentations will take place Monday April 10th – Thursday April 13th. Presentations should be between 20-30 minutes in length. You will present to students in grades 9-12. The recommended format includes: related school subjects, education/training, personal skills necessary in your field, typical day in your field, hands on activities or visuals, etc. We would certainly like for you to spend the day with us, but we will work around your schedule, and we appreciate any time that you may be able to dedicate to this very rewarding experience.
Career Awareness Fair: On Friday April 14th, 2017 from 11:48 a.m. – 1:49 p.m. In this fair we would like you to help us bring awareness about the many different career pathways there are for our students after graduation. This event will be held in our gym where you will be expected to set up a table andprovide information about the profession. Information such as web links for applications, promotional/marketing materials, and representatives to engage in dialogue with our students during the fair will be required to maintain student engagement. In addition, we highly encourage you to hire/enroll on site if possible
If you are willing to commit to one, or both parts of this event please complete a letter of commitment, and return it by fax 770-578-3268 or email at Larry.James@cobbk12.org by Friday March 24th, 2017. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at (770) 758-3266 Ext. 014.
